This brought back memories! When I was a little girl, I would cross-stitch and embroider those towels for my hope chest. I remember my grandmother quilting and we always wore aprons. I remember taking fresh vegetables out of the garden and watching my grandmother can them for the winter months. I would spend all day shelling peas and beans or cleaning corn. I miss those times. There was a satisfaction with the work, even at my young age. My daughter has missed out on that. I think its sad how that connection with former generations is lost.
